My Thoughts

A beautiful love story of passion and love, curses and family secrets.

With beautiful descriptions and exotic locations the author weaves a heart wrenching tale of love and revenge. The author does a wonderful job of setting the tone of the book and showing the growing love between the characters as well as the hurt and betrayal that is felt.

This story led me on an emotional roller coaster and I loved every minute of it. It was hard to put down as there was so much going on between all of the different characters I had to know what would happen next.

The romance was beautifully done and not over the top. The characters were real and had their own problems and failings that they had to deal with before they got their happy ending. I loved the build up to the romance and how the different feelings both good and bad were explored throughout the story.

Luz was a strong heroine who was used to taking care of herself, but she wasn't afraid of strong feelings. I loved her inquisitive nature and that she didn't let anyone stand in her way of finding out the truth. Her relationship with both Leandro and Andres was intense and full of twists and turns. It was easy to get involved with the mystery of these two men and see how Luz could be torn about the two.

This was an intense romance with a good dose of mystery that I would highly recommend.

One where she’s free from her “gift” of touching an object and seeing the owner’s deepest secrets. And one where she can fall in love without having all of the above get in the way.

But when tall, dark, and dangerous gallery owner Blake Greenwood enters her life, normal is the last thing she’s feeling. The man has more secrets than the priceless art he sells, giving Addison’s quest for normal no chance. That, and he may just hold the key to uncovering the truth behind her father’s unexplained disappearance.

Despite her paranormal gifts warning her to stay away, she feels an inexplicable, captivating fascination for him, something that goes deeper than attraction. There’s something between them that’s older than time, and if she can learn to give him her trust, it may just save her life.

My Thought
Vivid and enthralling writing that really brought the story to life. The story was full of intrigue and steamy romance. I couldn't put it down.

The setting for this story really put me in mind of a high society crime thriller, but with the added mix of paranormal elements. Non stop action and tons of twists and turns kept me on my toes until the very last page. The fast paced storyline made it hard to put down.

I really liked the bit of history that was out I to the story it was interesting and helped to add to this books mystique.

Addie has the gift of sight, but she wouldn't necessarily call it a gift. She was a strong character with a lot of depth. I liked her spirit and her ability to see the good in people even when they couldn't see it themselves.

Blake was a great match for Addie as he was confident, smart, an didn't let her get away with hiding her true self. He was mysterious and alluring, everything a hero should be.

The mystery was intriguing and had me guessing for much of the book. I can't wait for the next one to find out more.

This is a top notch crime thriller with an unforgettable romance!

My Thoughts

Reality and fantasy collide in this romantic adventure!

As an avid fan of fairy tale retellings, I was extremely excited to read Golden  and I was not disappointed. The story is set in our world with everyday people. However, there was magic at work, messing with people's lives. One of the things I really liked about this book was that it used the original tales instead of the watered down versions that were told over time. It helped to keep with the original lessons as well as introducing a few of its own. The thing I like most about fairy tales is how they are timeless and even retellings have a few words of wisdom within their pages.

The theme throughout this book was that everything wasn't always so black and white. There was no clear line dividing the villains and the heroes. It also gave a bit of mystery to the story. I love guessing who everyone was and figuring out right alongside Hanna, exactly who the real villains were.

Hanna is a down to earth girl who likes to read fairytales, but doesn't necessarily believe in them. I really liked her level headed nature and the way she always tried to take care of others. She didn't whine bout her misfortunes and instead spent her time trying to find solutions. She also has a bit of sass to her which she lived using in William.

William was an interesting character to et to know as well. He was complex and a little naughty at times, but he had a good heart. One of my favorite aspects about this character was that even hitch he worried about Hanna m, he never once tried to co trip her. He respected her decisions and saw her as the intelligent woman she was, instead of a little girl that needs o be protected from everything.

The idea for his story was really original and I liked how she weaves in all of the different fairytale chapters and gave them more complex personalities. I am really hoping this will continue in into a series, as there are still a lot of characters with stories I would like to get to hear more of. Owen, especially, I would love o ear how his story ends.

If your looking for happily ever after with a twist, check out Golden!

Nothing is for free when it comes to demons…a fact that Gwendolyn LaRoux finds out the hard way when she summons Laish, a minor demon from the Shadow Lands to help her cook up a little black magic. Unfortunately black magic has a way of growing and soon Gwendolyn finds herself drowning in darkness. Still, she’s determined to clean up her own mess. But when a creature from the Abyss enters our world and threatens her beloved grandmother, Gwendolyn has to admit she needs help—which means summoning the infuriating Laish, even though she swore never to call on him again.

Answering Gwendolyn’s incantations in a moment of boredom was a mistake for a demon who keeps what little heart he has left under lock and key. Laish immediately fell for the Creole beauty with jade green eyes and creamy, café au lait skin and now he’s determined to have her—no matter what the cost. And thanks to Gwendolyn’s sticky dilemma, the price just went up.

When it turns out that the intrepid witch must travel through the Shadow Lands and close the door she left open to the Pit, she knows at once she can’t make the dangerous journey on her own. Of course Laish is more than willing to act as her escort and bodyguard…for a not-so-small fee. Gwendolyn doesn’t want to use her body as a bargaining chip but the lustful demon will accept no other form of currency. And since her grandmother’s life is at stake, she has no choice. Little by little she must give in to his demands.

As Gwendolyn and Laish travel further and further into the interior of Hell, will he be able to keep her safe? And will she be able to keep her innocence? Or with they lose themselves and each other among the… Ruby Shadows?

My Thoughts

Vampires, Werewolves, and Demons. Oh My!

Evangeline really knows how to write paranormal romance. The first two books in the "Born to Darkness" series gave us some insight into the different creatures occupying this world and now we get a look into a whole new world inside of it. Taking a trip to hell has never been so hot. One of my favorite things about this authors books are the way she does her world building. Hell, was no exception. I loved how she interwove a lot of different ideas and myths surrounding Hell and the underworld, but still added her own little twist and ideas to the mix. This book was a bit darker than the first two, but it fit perfectly with the theme of the book.

I was also really fond of the small jokes the author added in that served as both foreshadowing and to lighten the mood.

"Actually I live in the part of Hell the ancient Greeks termed Hades," Laish said blandly. "It's quite scenic-I even have a lovely pomegranate tree in my front yard"

Gwendolyn was a really strong heroine and I liked her spunk. She has a tough outer shell, but given her circumstances its understandable. I really liked that she kept her kind heart, even after all of the horrible things she goes through after going through Hell, literally. Gwendolyn doesn't let Laish push her around or manipulate her, but she does give him the benefit of the doubt. The exchanges between her and Laish are always amusing and often steamy.

There is a slow buildup in the romance department, making their relationship seem more realistic. However, there is plenty of passion and sexy moments from the first page to the last. This is one of the things that I love about Evangeline Anderson's books, the way she builds up the anticipation until the best moment possible.

Laish is protective, ruthless, and dominant. He is a true alpha male, but he was not an asshole. I loved Laish he had his faults and didn't always play fair, but he was honest and never tried to suppress or demean Gwendolyn. He did his best to support her and even when it was detrimental to himself, he allowed Gwendolyn to do things at her own pace and in her own way. He is an amazing hero and one of my absolute favorites of the entire series! He also knew just how to get his little witch to give in to temptation.

I cannot wait to see what else this author has in store. You do not want to miss "Ruby Shadows" it is one Hell of a story!
